Coordinates and travel profiles
Send longitude before latitude, choose a supported vehicle profile, and interpret routing estimates correctly.
Longitude, then latitude
Coordinates use WGS84 (EPSG:4326) in [longitude, latitude] order. For example, Kigali city centre is approximately [30.0619, -1.9441]. Reversing the values produces a different location, even when both numbers are valid.
Choose a travel profile
| Profile | Intended use |
|---|---|
car | Passenger vehicles |
moto | Motorcycle trips |
truck | Truck-oriented routing |
bicycle | Bicycle trips |
pedestrian | Walking |
pedestrian_loaded | Walking with a load |
Profiles affect route selection and estimated travel time. Confirm supported fields and defaults in the generated API reference.
Interpret estimates
Durations are model estimates. Average route speed is not a legal speed limit or observed traffic speed. Motorized terrain coefficients are provisional and have not established fleet-calibrated accuracy. With no observed traffic, confidence remains none.
Current coverage
Deployment is Rwanda-only. Geocoding, optimization, map matching, and metered tile endpoints are future capabilities, not available operations in this reference.
